The NFD, trading arm of the Findhorn Foundation which is one of the key stakeholders in the Findhorn Ecovillage Community, has been exploring innovative models and technical strategies to ensure sustainability advocacy and leadership for the Findhorn Ecovillage in relation to energy.

More generally, the energy project makes recommendations on the opportunities for, and requirements of, a more flexible, decarbonised energy system, which is capable of undertaking local energy optimisation, and participating with local energy trading and balancing mechanisms.
PETs housing Director Paddy Atkinson has been closely associated with the process.
