Today is the Findhorn Ecovillage Community’s 58th birthday. Many happy returns!
As you know the Community was unintentionally founded by Eileen and Peter Caddy and Dorothy Maclean in 1962. All three had dedicated themselves to following a disciplined spiritual path for many years.
Eileen received guidance in her meditations from an inner source she called ‘the still, small voice within’ and Peter ran the Cluny Hill Hotel according to this guidance and his own intuition. Additionally in her meditation, Dorothy discovered she was able to intuitively contact the overlighting intelligence of plants – which she called angels, and then devas – who gave her instructions on how to make the most of their fledgling garden in the Park. Other people came to join the Caddys and Dorothy in their work and soon the original group of six grew into a small community, committed to their spiritual path and to expanding the garden in harmony with nature. The community published a slim volume of Eileen’s guidance entitled God Spoke To Me, in 1967, and word of this determined and spiritually oriented community spread still further.
The world in 2020 looks a lot different to that of 1962 but one thing remains the same: the challenging spiritual and physical environment! And today “Holism” is a generally better understood term, if still not the everyday belief-in-action; ie. will my own post-virus world simply be a back to normal/same ol’ same ol’ or actually be about manifesting an even higher version, a “new heaven and a new earth”?[mfn]Revelations 21:1[/mfn]
PET fulfils its physical community role in social, wellbeing and environmental development — housing, community care and carbon reducing activities. Daily, PET associates intend to put their best spiritual feet forward to manifest the Community’s Vision in the here and now.
In words which the Founders exemplified:
“DEDICATE YOURSELF this day to Me, to My service, and to the service of humanity. Service is a wonderful healer, for as you forget yourself in service, you will find you will grow and expand in the most wonderful way. You will reach great heights and plumb great depths, and your love and understanding of life will begin to mean something to you. This day will afford you countless opportunities for stretching and growing. Accept each one with a heart filled with love and gratitude, and feel yourself growing in consciousness and in wisdom. Live it fully and abundantly with no restrictions, no limitations. Expect only the very best in everything and everyone, and see it come forth. Keep your heart open to one another. Look for the highest good in each other, and work from that higher level of consciousness. Encourage one another in every way possible; every soul needs encouragement. You will find as you help others, you help yourself to grow at the same time.”
― Eileen Caddy, Opening Doors Within[from the messages received from the “Still, small voice within”]
“AS IN ALL THINGS, if one is working with a spirit of love and joy, with attention to detail and sense of perfection, the energy of this spirit flows into the object of one’s work; the same happens if one is angry, depressed, out of sorts, when a negative energy is transferred. If you prepare a meal when you are in a bad temper, for example, those eating it afterwards are also partaking of that energy… Some people are more sensitive than others and can describe those vibrations accurately, but everyone is affected by them whether they are aware of it or not; therefore the energy which one brings to any task is of vital importance.”
—Peter Caddy, In Perfect Timing
“STRESS IS CAUSED by our resistance to what already is. Even our difficulties we need to accept. My greatest wish is to do God’s will. … We judge everything as good or evil and forget that resistance, pain and difficulties are there so we can learn when we leave balance. … If there ever was a time in our evolution of consciousness it is now – the ground is prepared for this planting.”
—Dorothy Maclean[from her different books]

Happy Birthday Findhorn Community, members and well-wishers. This year I intend to:
- break through those beliefs I have about myself that are holding me back from making the impossible possible;
- “always seek the best, always expect the best, and never at any time be content with second best.”[mfn]Eileen Caddy: a message received from the “Still, small voice within”[/mfn]
